Web Designer

(basic description)

Job Description

A web designer typically creates the layout for the front end part of the website, which is what the users see on screen. Web designers don't always script the website, but they do work with the people who do. They create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to define site structure, select colors and fonts, and ensure mobile-responsive, user-friendly, and brand-consistent interfaces, often using HTML, CSS, and design tools like Adobe XD or Figma. However, with my current skills, I believe I could strongly do both web design and web scripting.

For example, I could help clients by making small websites for their business, restaurant, wiki, etc. I can get clients by creating a simple portfolio, reaching out to local businesses, or using social media (like LinkedIn).

Starting Position

IF I worked for a web design company, I'd most likely start as a Junior Web Designer, a bug fixer, or I'd work in sales and marketing. Moving up positions as a web designer would typically take 1 to 3 years to advance from a junior to a mid-level role, and roughly 5+ years to reach a senior-level position.

I plan on working as a web designer my whole life - as long as AI doesn't take my job. If AI takes over most computer science or graphic design jobs, then I guess I'm working at McDonald's.
